fear & preciousness: samantha dennis
10 – 27 MARCH 2022
Fear & Preciousness features new experimental jewellery objects by Samantha Dennis, an early career artist from Lutruwita (Tasmania). The tropes and materials of jewellery have been employed to construct exaggerated invertebrates, which envelop and embrace the body, to consider dualities of disgust & desire, curiosity & repulsion, fear & preciousness.
This exhibition has resulted as part of exploratory studies in the early stages of PhD candidature within the University of Tasmania. Her research project focuses on ways to engage the ontology of jewellery and body-related objects as an epistemological tool for new ways of knowing and experiencing nature.
