IDENTITY CRISIS: IZZIE WHITE
30 MARCH – 16 APRIL 2023
This series explores objects of domesticity escaping into the wild as an attempt to reconcile our collective modern lifestyles with the natural world. The paintings chronologically follow a checkerboard cloth, representing domesticity, escaping into the Australian bush that continues to grow across the paintings. There is a heavy handed, baroque style attributed to the paintings, stemming from a deep, religious like reverence for the Australian bush.
Opening event: Friday 31 March, 6 – 8pm
Image: Reckless Abandon (diptych), acrylic on canvas.
