Brunswick Street Gallery offers Volunteer positions to those looking for more hands-on experience within a small commercial gallery environment.

Ideal for someone with an interest in learning the day to day running of a small commercial art gallery, our volunteer program would particularly suit someone looking to gain hands-on industry experience in accompaniment to their tertiary studies or their commencement into a career in the arts.

Brunswick Street Gallery provides its volunteers with tangible industry knowledge and support. Our volunteers are offered professional development and networking opportunities unique to a gallery that holds over 100 exhibitions and creative programs each year, with project-focused curatorial mentorship available to pursue throughout their time with us.

Through their time at Brunswick Street Gallery, our volunteers have been able to gain valuable industry experience, have had the opportunity to co-curate their own exhibitions on-site, gain further employment in other areas of the arts and network with a large number of professional peers.

What we look for in a volunteers

  • an interest in a pursuing a career aligning with the arts.

  • those looking to gain more hands-on experience pertaining to a gallery environment.

  • a desire to gain industry experience to compliment and enhance their current tertiary studies.

  • are looking to network with our local arts community, particularly our exhibiting artists and curators.

  • are interested in gaining onsite experience in order to assist with future curatorial projects.

  • have previous customer service and basic administration experience.

  • are committed to invigilating the Gallery between 4-8 hours a month. Volunteer shifts are on Sundays (4 hours per shift only).

Unfortunately, we do not offer any Work Experience opportunities.

We can only accept applications from individuals aged 18 years and over.
